Forgings
Forged components to your drawing or specification – from tees, nozzles and wyes through forged pipes and sleeves to spherical forgings, forged blocks and shafts. We supply them heat-treated, machined and tested to the agreed scope, as single pieces or in series and with piece weights up to 40 t.
Scope of supply & execution
| Item | Detail |
|---|---|
| Basis of manufacture | Drawing or customer specification; single pieces, small and large series |

Materials we supply for this
The grade follows from medium, temperature and pressure. The list below is a selection, not a limitation – we supply the grade that design and specification call for. Each grade has a data sheet with composition, properties and standards.
Typical fields of use
- Branches, nozzles and wyes for high-pressure and superheated steam lines
- Header and vessel nozzles machined from solid
- Forged pipes and sleeves for power and chemical plants
- Shafts, blocks and spherical forgings for mechanical and plant engineering
- Duplex and super duplex parts for offshore and seawater service
The records you receive
Inspection certificate 3.1 or 3.2 to EN 10204
Batch-related test results for every pressure-bearing item, countersigned on request.
Non-destructive testing
Visual, penetrant, magnetic particle, ultrasonic or radiographic testing of the welds as specified.
Pressure test
Hydrostatic test to the applicable code and drawing, with test report.
Traceability
Batch and heat number of every item remain traceable through the documentation.
From drawing to delivery
1. Drawing or sketch
Send us the drawing, isometric or bill of material – a hand sketch with dimensions is enough to start.
2. Agree material and code
We settle grade, standard, pressure rating and the required certificate with you.
3. Quotation
You receive a quotation with price, execution and a firm delivery date.
4. Delivery with documentation
The component arrives ready to install, with certificates and test reports.
Forgings – frequently asked questions
Why forged rather than welded?
A forging has a continuous grain flow and no weld seam in the most highly stressed area. Branches, nozzles and thick-walled parts for high pressures, high temperatures or cyclic loading are therefore often forged and then machined.
Up to what size do you supply forgings?
Up to 40 t piece weight per part. Which dimensions are possible in each case depends on material, shape and heat treatment; with the drawing, we check feasibility and give you a binding delivery date.
Which material standards apply?
For pressure equipment, typically EN 10222 (steel forgings for pressure purposes) or ASTM A105, A182 and A350, and in German-speaking countries also VdTÜV material data sheets. For duplex and super duplex in offshore service, NORSOK M-650 is often required.
Which tests are possible?
In addition to ultrasonic, dye penetrant and PMI testing, also notched-bar impact and elevated-temperature tensile tests, corrosion tests such as the Huey and IGC test, and determination of the ferrite content. You specify the scope with the order; it is documented in the 3.1 or 3.2 certificate.
Send your drawing – we will clarify the rest together
A drawing, bill of materials or short description is enough to get started. If already available, the following details help us prepare your quotation quickly.
- Drawing with dimensions, tolerances and machining condition (as-forged, rough-machined or finish-machined)
- Material and material standard, e.g. EN 10222, ASTM A182 or VdTÜV material data sheet
- Heat treatment and required tests, e.g. ultrasonic, impact, elevated-temperature tensile, PMI
- Code and inspection: AD 2000, Pressure Equipment Directive or classification society
- Quantity, certificate 3.1 or 3.2, required date and delivery address
